We’ve received special permission to re-air a recorded video presentation by Ron Roth of RBC Capital Markets called A Primer in Auto Strategy Trading – a presentation originally given December 10, 2007 to the New York chapter of the Market Technicians Association. We’ll use this as guidance for topics to discuss within the group after the break.

Remote Presenter: Wayne Harrison
The original developer of the KwikPop set of discretionary trading indicators (www.kwikpop.com), will give a talk with a few quick demonstrations regarding how he trades and how he uses his proprietary indicator set to synthesize different types of information about market conditions. Wayne moderates live trading rooms and conducts regular training sessions, and has been trading and helping members of the public to benefit from his approaches for many years. The KwikPop indicators are available for TradeStation, eSignal, NinjaTrader, Sierra Charts and Infinity Charts, and a free trial is available.

Dr. Steenbarger will be discussing the most common psychological challenges traders face and how to use research-tested methods from psychology to deal with these challenges and improve trading performance. In the September session we provided a broad overview of TradeStation’s new features for Forex. In this follow-up session we’ll example three types of Forex trading strategies as they apply to timeframes from long-term to split-second, and then look at a specific example for an intraday Forex strategy as implemented in EasyLanguage code. A short film clip will also help illustrate the concept of how interest rates drive long term Forex trading.

The ability to design strategies in TradeStation EasyLanguage which enter before a bar is completed is one of TradeStation’s most frequently misunderstood features. Special considerations must be taken to ensure that strategies intended to trade intrabar work correctly, and this session will provide a practical overview of how to use intrabar orders in a way that works.

Getting the most from TradeStation’s new Forex trading features

Bruce will provide a quick recap of the new features in TS 8.3 as they pertain specifically to Forex trading and automation, and then give some practical tips on how to make the most of the new features you may not have used yet in an actual Forex strategy running on TradeStation.
Optimizing Tick-Precise Trading Systems on NeoTicker
Presenter: Bruce DeVault
We’ll walk through a quick example of how to build a tick-precise indicator calculation on the NeoTicker platform and some of the differences between tick-precise calculations and indicators that do not need tick precision, then demonstrate an optimization of a tick-precise trading system using NeoTicker’s Grid Optimizer, an advanced optimization program supporting distributed optimization across multiple computers. Emphasis will be on what works and what doesn’t, and an example optimization will be shown for a real tick-precise trading system.

Steve and Vas will provide an overview for WTSUG members of Blocks, the new charting
and back-testing platform from Worden Brothers, the makers of Telechart. They will start
with an overview of Blocks and its advantages over its predecessor, Telechart. They will then
cover the main features of Blocks, including its advanced near-real time charting ability,
visual sorting, integrated trading, and scanning as well as portfolio level back-testing (which
now includes fundamentals). They will also cover how Blocks can be extended by creating
user defined blocks as well as VB.Net code.
